(April 17, 2019) – Following a hotly contested Alberta election Jason Kenney has been elected Premier of Alberta, and the UCP (United Conservative Party) has formed the majority government.
AFN Alberta Regional Chief Marlene Poitras issued the following statement: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the Premier elect and all the candidates who ran in the provincial election.
“I look forward to working with the new government and I commit to continuing to advocate vigorously for respect and recognition of First Nations rights as well as calling for action on issues that matter to First Nations.”
