MONTREAL, June 27, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ – Information sessions on the Sixties Scoop settlement individual payment application process currently underway in Canada have been held across the country since December 2018. As the August 30, 2019 application deadline fast approaches, Collectiva, the claims administrator, can confirm that it has reached a great number of people who fit the eligibility criteria for compensation. Many information sessions have been held to date across Canada.
As there is still time to apply, the claims administration team has recently begun to hold a second wave of information sessions across the country. The goal is to ensure that as many people as possible who meet the eligibility criteria have the opportunity to apply prior to the August 30, 2019 deadline. Details are available on the settlement website at: www.sixtiesscoopsettlement.info. Anyone needing more information or the support of a professional to complete an individual payment application is invited to communicate with Collectiva.
It should be recalled that a settlement agreement was reached in 2017 in respect of a class action aimed at compensating any registered Indian or person eligible to be registered or Inuit person who was adopted or made a permanent ward and was placed in the care of non-Indigenous foster or adoptive parents in Canada between January 1, 1951 and December 31, 1991, resulting in the loss of cultural identity. Eligible class members will receive compensation between $25,000 and $50,000 depending on the overall number of eligible members.

My husband is a 60s scoop victim… when I called on September, 2019, they told me that he was too late to apply, then it was extended to December, 2019.. my question is, will there be a civil suit for this for those people that were unable to apply, and were never informed at all in their communities.
i am searching for a new deadline for the 60’s scoop. i have put in my application i have put in the wrong number for the criteria. please i am hoping there is a new deadline.
There shouldn’t be a deadline I was in the dark for any of this I was in foster care
…This Whole Thing Was Nothing But a Farce!, More People Were Hurt Over Dredging Up Thier Chronology of Distressed and Greivous Events Only to Be Told They Missed The Deadline, which was extremely brief!…Then There is the Thousands that didn’t even know about this even happening!…
personally I think every one that took the settlement from the government sold themselves short.my life was worth more then 30000 dollars that payment is an insult . how can you even put a value on life an freedom an the right to be native . they destroy my life an others an I can not forgive or forget what they did
There are many victims in other jurisdictions who do not know this matter is closed. It seems very unjust.
Hank Henry ,did received sixties scoop ,was not informed about it

I’m a “Sixties Scoop Survivor” and I hadn’t realize that there had been a deadline to gather up all the information and memories that I had to dig in from my past along with the reoccurring nightmares that came along with the claim. Back then C.A.S are aware of whom was in care and returned or not to the parents or a family relative, so why haven’t the C.A.S reached out to the children that were taken and let them know about this claim? Now it’s most likely too late to receive any compensation for the nightmarish abuse both physical, sexual, verbal and mental ABUSE that I’ve endured until I was of age to live on my own.
My question is if it isn’t too late to apply will someone point me in the right direction as to where I can apply? Thank you
