Fort Edmonton Park Launches New Strategic Direction

(Edmonton) – Fort Edmonton Management Company (FEMCo) is embarking on an exciting new strategic direction for Fort Edmonton Park. “Fort Edmonton Park will become the premier cultural tourism attraction in Western Canada. This is a huge undertaking and the top three strategic priorities that we’ll focus on are relevant experiences, accessibility and ensuring the Park is financially sustainable,” says Darren Dalgleish, President & CEO.

“Fort Edmonton Management Company (FEMCo) was created to drive enterprise and efficiency, which is essential for the sustainability of this cultural tourism attraction. The board and I are committed to increasing the social value of Fort Edmonton Park in our community and this region, and Darren and his team are building on a number of strengths to execute this,” says Don Cummings, FEMCo Board Chair.

Fort Edmonton Park will build out the breadth of the visitor experience at the Park including the addition of winter programming, celebrations of Indigenous culture, exhibitions and other world-class events. “We will be creating products and experiences that are aligned with the market and highlight the uniqueness of Fort Edmonton Park both within and outside the Park,” Dalgleish continued. “Using our existing assets in a more customer-focused manner, combined with operational efficiencies, will also ensure that we are financially sustainable for the long term and ultimately improve accessibility of the park,” says Dalgleish.

Along with the heightened experience, Fort Edmonton Park will ensure the Park is accessible on several fronts. “Improved business performance and relevance will allow the Park to focus on price adjustments making Fort Edmonton Park a destination for an increased number of visitors,” says Dalgleish, Transportation to and from the Park, parking and better access for people with disabilities will also be important factors in improving overall accessibility.

The new strategic direction, along with the recently announced $165 Million Enhancement Plan, is sure to make Fort Edmonton Park a favourite destination for residents and tourists for many years to come. Fort Edmonton Park is open for the 2018 season with regular programming until September 3rd. Private and public events will continue throughout the enhancement period and will include festivals, movies, corporate parties and more.
