Celebrate Metis in the Mountains Asihawak Festival: June 25-28 at Castle River Rodeo Grounds

If you are looking for a wonderful weekend experience of great music and amazing Métis culture be sure to attend the Métis in the Mountains Asihawak Festival from June 25 – 28 at the Castle River Rodeo Grounds near Pincher Creek Alberta.

This year’s event features a wide variety of activities guaranteed to delight everyone interested in experiencing and learning about the Métis Culture.

Try your hand at throwing a tomahawk or knife, shooting a slingshot and using a bow. Experience the feeling of paddling a voyageur canoe and riding in a Red River cart. Learn the art of dancing a jig, sewing a capote or blanket bag, weaving a sash bracelet, loom beading or decorating a medicine bag.

This year’s entertainment includes: Dallas “Fiddlin Fingerz” & Phil Boyer, Calgary Fiddler – Donna Turk, Doyle Delorme, “Wanderin” Wally Garrioch, Lorin Hansen Performance Project and the Edmonton Métis Dancers.

Everyone is welcome, the event is open to the public!

Admission for the events is:  $18.00/person for the weekend, $12.00/person for a  day pass (Fri & Sat only) and children 5 & under are free.

Camping- (un-serviced) – 15.00/unit/weekend On site concession to purchase meals
