Treaty 6 Grand Chief Littlechild says the withdrawal of the land acknowledgement is a sign of disrespect

Grand Chief Wilton Littlechild will sit on the board of the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund established by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

(May 28, 2019) – “Disrespecful,” stated Dr. Wilton Littlechild, Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty 6 First Nations, when he read the announcement of the newly elected Provincial Government of Alberta that effective from this point, “the Indigenous land acknowledgement – once symbolic openings of most government events under the NDP – are now a matter of ‘personal preference’ at UCP official events according to Minister of Indigenous Relations Rick Wilson.”

Dr. Littlechild, an internationally renowned expert and advocate on Indigenous issues and former Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, is very disheartened at the comments of the Minister of Indigenous Relations. The TRC Report states ‘All Canadians, as Treaty peoples, share responsibility for establishing and maintaining mutually respectful relationships…Together Canadians must do more than just talk about reconciliation; we must learn how to practice reconciliation in our every day lives – within …governments.’

“I think it’s a very serious mistake and sets back all the good faith efforts by many across Alberta who have advanced reconciliation by this simple gesture of acknowledging the historical fact that Treaty territories existed before Alberta became a province. Such kinds of denial whenever they were done in the past have only fueled discord and animosity.

“I would urge both Premier Kenney and Minister Wilson to re-think this decision and withdraw it if they are serious about wanting to work with us as partners.”

Minister Wilson is the MLA for the Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin constituency that is comprised of the largest collective population of First Nation citizens at Maskwacis Cree (Samson Cree Nation, Ermineskin Cree Nation, Louis Bull Tribe and Montana Cree Nation). The announcement is not being well received by the leadership.

Bad news. Please get out to vote them out in the next election.
We learn a lot from our indigenous friends.

If I am not in error, Dr LittleChild was one of the individuals who helped construct the Current UNDRIP Document. A Document that in all intents and purposes has Redefined the traditional term ( Indigenous) . A document that is very DANGEROUS and one that has been legislated in other countries around the world and Has plans to be made into Law in Canada under Bill C 15. We can’t advocate as a group or as an individual under Race, Ethnic , religion , or cultural without being called a RASIST, legally invalid, etc
But we are encouraged to organize under political, economic, and social labels also under the umbrella of “sustainable.” A globalist agenda.. everyone under this legislation that is meant to be law in Canada, federally, provincially and in our municipalities. Will have everyone owning nothing and having no rights.. The UN Charter does not recognize the province nor the individual as deserving of Rights or obligations. The trail of tears is where the First Nations people are headed again and our Canadian peoples will not gain anything either. Dr Little Child may be an accomplished person , but in this he and those sitting around the UNDRIP table have failed miserably the original people’s of Canada and other Countries. So shameful!!!
